While at MAP the aspect of my job that I came to admire and appreciate the most was how experimental I could be. The Marcomms team gave me the space to pitch crazy ideas, test them out and sometimes if they came out the way we envisioned, even put them to use. While I did see that not everything I worked on would end up being showcased to the world, just the fact that I was able to start on them, see them through and learn why they did not work taught me so much.

The vision behind KEMPU came in when I was analysing the gaps using existing statistics and competitors. The main gap being the interactive integration of technology and reaching the teenage audience. Indian museums are often viewed as boring, and for older people, MAP has already broken that barrier by opening it’s doors for multiple audiences, their constant programming and tech-savvy space. The goal with KEMPU was to see how we could have a tech element that visitors to MAP could continue to interact with even while they were not physically in the space.
I got to dabble with 3D design more than I ever had in college, try out script writing, and actually pitch the project to multiple people. With each pitch I could see the project grow, and myself getting more confident with the idea I was working on.

Namaskara I'm Kempu! Welcome to MAP! I'm an AR that only talks to youngsters. I can't wait to float around the museum with you.
Those rocks stacked in the corner? That's an art installation called Rock Formation Tower 420!
Tower 420 and the welcome desk were both created by artist and industrial designer Arik Levi!
Can you count the number of compartments in the desk? Get it right and you might just get a prize!
Ponds
Did you know, our architect worked with principles of Vastu and Feng Shui in mind?
The ponds outside were placed exactly so, to balance the building!
Take a deep breath and feel those positive vibes!
Office
There's a whole lot of people in there [point at the office]. Collections, exhibitions, education and programming, communications, development and inclusions - well that's a whole lot ! [can try to have a fun list pop up on the screen (no idea if I can actually do this)].
We're diverse, we're always coming up with new ideas and hey, they get to hang out with me ofcourse they're having fun :)
Windows
Woah all this floating and looking at art is making me feel heavy - let's take a minute and look out the window!
mmm (soothing exhale), aren't the colors nice? I love just hanging around here.
Ooo I also love taking selfies here, wanna take one with me? Don't forget to tag me @mapbangalore when you put these up!
Terrace
You didn't think the terrace was art-free did you?
Open the door on your right and you'll find metal structures running along the walls and even extending upwards towards the sky. That's Ayesha Singh's exhibition - Continuous Coesistences II.
(pause) psst here's a secret. Golden hour on our terrace opens up a whole new world when you’re looking through these arches and soaking in the sun!

What did I learn this summer?
Introspection
Being able to explore so many different aspects of marketing allowed me to see that there is more to a role in the field of communication than just social media templates. It gave me the space to see how I can relate communication to my practices in college. My degree in human centered design, relies heavily on creating interfaces that humans find easy and interesting to interact with. Over the summer I have realized that I can never truly do that if I’m not speaking to the users in a way that is interesting to start with. Communication and marketing is just as important as the end product.
Special thanks to the best team ever!
